Fellowship News & Events

At the annual meeting a group was approved to act as Fellowship Committee within the guidelines of the Constitution.  This group feels it is important to have a committee to collect all the fellowship ideas and attempt to organize them in a manner to spread the activities evenly throughout the year. As the calendar on the bulletin board indicates we would like to be a “Go To” committee. In order to accomplish this, we are prepared to accept ideas in writing to the Committee on a form entitled Procedure for Submitting an Event see Files and Stuff.

If you are wondering what happens to your suggestions or how much notice is desirable, then check out the Procedure for Including Events on the Calendar, see Files and Stuff.

Once Fellowship reviews the event and ensures it does not conflict with any other church event, then Fellowship committee will contact the leader offering suggestions as to covering costs of the event, moral support and promotional ideas.  If a coordinator or leader is required we will advertise for a coordinator on the calendar at the church, in the bulletin, or on the website, see Poster on Files and Stuff.

Prior to the event, Fellowship Committee will provide the Leader/Coordinator with Evaluation sheets by the Leaders, see Files and Stuff and also Evaluation sheets for the Participants, see Files and Stuff.  These evaluation sheets assist us and others setting up events in determining whether the event was worthwhile or suggestions to make a similar event more successful.

The Committee would like to see at least one organized church event each month but it will take many volunteers and coordinators/leaders to make it happen.  We need YOUR help.

The ideas presented on the poster or calendar are both events that have become a tradition at The United Church in Meadowood and also some creative new ideas that need someone to volunteer to make them become a reality.  New and varied ideas are most welcome.  These ideas can be for specific age groups or all ages.  Share YOUR talents and help us, help you know your church community better.

At present the members of the Fellowship Committee are Jean Thorpe, Karen Lenaghan, Glennys Propp, Loraine Purdey, and Gail Will.  We would like more people to join us.  Did you notice there are no men or youth represented on this committee yet?  We would like to add more to the list of “Go To” people.  If you are interested let us know or the Nominating Committee.
